Can I also do this in My WebOké? WebOké Backups
WebOké Backups is our own backup system. Every night, we make a complete backup of your package: your files, databases, mailboxes and settings. We store these backups encrypted on separate storage servers in a different data centre, separate from the server your website runs on. You can restore something from the backups of the past 30 days yourself, free of charge and without any help from us.
What's in the backup?
- All files in your home directory, including your websites.
- Your databases, with the database users, their passwords and permissions.
- Your mailboxes and your mail settings (aliases, filters, autoresponders).
- The DirectAdmin configuration: domains, subdomains and redirects.
- DNS zones, SSL certificates, cron jobs, FTP accounts and your PHP version.
For an e-mail package, we keep the mailboxes and the DirectAdmin settings.
Opening WebOké Backups
- Log in to My WebOké.
- Click My Products (1) in the menu on the left.
- Click WebOké Backups (2) at the top, in the row of tabs. You'll also find it in the My Products submenu. You can also go straight to my.weboke.nl/backups, or click Backups in DirectAdmin (see The Backups section).

The How it works button opens the explanation in our knowledge base. Below that is the wizard you use to restore, followed by your previous restores, your downloads and uploads, and a brief explanation of the restore methods.
The wizard in six steps
- Account: choose the package you want to restore something from.
- Moment: choose the backup, with date, time and size. The most recent one is selected by default. Here you can also use Make a new backup now to make an extra backup straight away, or use Upload to restore a previously downloaded backup file.
- Blocks: tick what you want to restore. For files, you choose the entire home directory or only certain folders and files: you browse through the backup as in File Manager, or search by name. Use Entire account to tick everything at once.
- Method: choose how you want to restore (see below).
- Confirm: check the summary. If you choose Full restore, you type the account name (your DA username) to confirm. Click Start restore.
- Execution: you see step by step what's happening. You can safely close the page: you'll get an e-mail once the restore is finished.
The four restore methods
| Method | What happens? | When? |
|---|---|---|
| Full restore | Exactly the state of the chosen moment. Everything added or changed since then disappears. You choose whether we first make a safety backup of the current state (recommended, enabled by default). | After a hack or a failed update, if you really want to go back to that point in time. |
| Only restore what is missing or changed | The backup is restored, but files, mails and tables that are newer stay in place. | If you've accidentally deleted something. |
| As a copy next to the current one | Nothing changes about your current site, database or mailbox. The backup goes into a new folder, a new database or a new mailbox. For WordPress, Joomla, Nextcloud and Laravel, we automatically adjust the settings of the copy. | If you want to take a look at what was in the backup first, without any risk. |
| Download | Nothing changes on the server. The chosen parts are packed as a .tar.gz file that's ready to download for 48 hours. | If you want to keep your own copy. |
Please note: With Full restore, the account is emptied first. You'll see beforehand what disappears and what's recreated, and we'll ask you once more to confirm you're sure. Leave the safety backup switched on: that way you can always go back to the state just before the restore.
Making an extra backup
Are you about to make a major change, such as a big update to your website? Make an extra backup beforehand using Make a new backup now in the Moment step. You can do this up to 2 times a day and 15 times a month. As soon as the backup is ready, the new moment appears in the list.
Downloads, uploads and previous restores
- Below the wizard is Downloads and uploads. A download package stays available for 48 hours. You can restore a previously downloaded package later using Upload in the Moment step. Uploads are also removed after 48 hours.
- Under Previous restores, each restore is listed with the date, an eight-character restore code, the moment, the method and the status. Click Result to open the report. Mention the restore code if you have a question about a restore for us.
- If a restore is running, A restore is running appears at the top, with the Follow live button.
Frequently asked questions
How long are backups kept? There's a backup for every night of the past 30 days.
Is WebOké Backups also available for my package? Yes. WebOké Backups is available for every customer with a hosting or e-mail package.
How long does a restore take? A single folder or database is usually back within a minute. A complete account with a lot of mail can take longer.
I accidentally deleted a mailbox in DirectAdmin. Can it be recovered? Yes. A deleted mailbox can always be restored with WebOké Backups. In the wizard, choose a backup from before the deletion at Moment, tick E-mail (mailboxes) at Blocks together with the mailbox you want back, and choose Only restore what is missing or changed as the method. The mailbox comes back with the mail it contained.
I don't see WebOké Backups in my menu. This means your account doesn't have an active hosting or e-mail package, or you're logged in as an extra user without access to products. Log in as the main account or create a ticket.
